Pain~ ~~Accomplishments~~~chage and a new new

In the last month I lost the best dog in the whole wide world. Kujo was loving, he was patient and kind, and never complained. If he was a person, people would have said that he was completely humble and honest. Though they may see him as little naive in a good duh sort of way. Katelyn graduated from high school two weeks ago. Her GPA was 3.9 and she is headed to college. She will be attaining University of North Texas in Dent, Texas. She has a full ride to study forensic. I supper excited for her. Our new new days are coming in closely. Ted will be coming home a week after Katelyn moves away to college. Ted will no longer have is pumpkin under the same roof. Zachary will now get a room he doesn't even want. He wants his sister under our roof so that he can walk her up to her room in the morning and demand that she does things for him. I now longer have a buddy to hang out with. She has been one of the cornerstones of my life for the last 17 (almost 18 ) years now. It's not about lose. It's about a new beginnings and learning how to look at life from a whole new prospective

My life in a nut shell

There is a new song by Tim Mcgraw that sums my life up quite nicely. Every time I hear it I think "Yep, that's me". I have learned so much about myself and life in general over the last three years. I have learned that things are not always as they appear, to look at things from every possible perspective, and to learn to trust people. All of these thing are hard when you are the daughter of a former drug addict and someone who use to have series anger management issues. Survival becomes the goal and you forget that living needs to occur somewhere in the process. I really am starting to like who I am and what I am striving to become. I am not there yet, but I am working towards my goals.

stress + living at school= sick for a week

I have been so stressed the last two weeks that I made myself sick. I have been sick to varying degrees all week. I hope I am better by Monday because I have A LOT to catch up on. I am really excited to start grad school.

Disillusioned by the Army?

In recent years I have found myself lacking in "hurrah". I fully support my husband, and other military families, but don't like attending most functions. I am not sure if it's because of prolonged/constant deployments or because of the ever revolving door that is the military. I am not big on good byes!

We are coming up on our fourth deployment and I am okay with it because it is my husband's job. It's what we signed up for, what we do. I suppoort my husband's mission 100%. However, I do not dance around and sing patriotic songs when it comes to facing the deployments. I also thinks it's maladaptive to pretend that I am not bothered by the deployments or that I don't resent my husband missing so much of my son and daughter's lives. I don't blame anyone, it's just how I feel.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy

Why can't I sleep once school starts? The day school starts my ability to sleep goes right out the window. It's actually quite maddening. Here I sit, at 3:16 am, wide awake. I think I am going to have to start taking sleeping pills, either that or lose my mind. I cannot be sleeping for Dr. Scott's class. You have to be alert, just like when you are operating heavy machinary.

Mitt Romney and my hopes

I hope that Mormons aren't voting for Romney just because he is Mormon. I hope the are truly looking at his experience, his ability to relate to the American people, and his desire to make a real change. I think he could bring a voice to the church, but he may not be the best man for the job and that's what we really need right now. It makes me wonder why Jon Huntsman, with his slew of experience, was never looked at seriously and why selection for president has become a popularity contest.

Happy New Year!!!

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives!!! I am going to try and be a better blogger this year. I am so glad that I am almost done with my second Bachelor's Degree. I cannot wait to take a break from school before I start at Arizona State again, in the Spring of 2013.

Did you ever wonder

Why Hawaii has an interstate?

Why they spend more money on packaging some toys than they spend on making it?

Why the fees at AASU are almost as much as the classes?

Why you always hit red lights when you're in a hurry?

Why it takes longer (seems like twice as long) to get some places than it does to come back?

Why we spend more money to make the penny than the penny is worth?

Does everything happen for a reason,

or is that just something people say to make themselves feel better? I DO NOT believe that there is a reason behind everything. Sometimes things just happen that are so wrong it defies explanation or reason.

Forever and Day...

That's how long it has been since I posted anything on my blog. A lot has changed in the last year. For one, we are all a year older ; ) Ted has been back from Iraq for 4 months now. I am almost done with my 2nd degree.Zachary is now 6 and in the 1st grade.Katelyn is now 16, driving, and in the 11th grade.Ted is now older than he was and has been promoted. I haven't aged a bit. Katelyn spent this summer at Emory attending the National Youth Leadership Forum on medicine. We are considering sending her to Vanderbelt's summer program next year. It is a 6 week program and it costs a lot of money so we will have to see. Hopefully I can be a more faithful blogger.

Men are taking over my house!!!

Lego men that is. Zachary has to have close to 30 of the little guys and I am always tripping over them. He seems to lose them all the time too. I think he could have 1000 of them and it still wouldn't be enough.

Going to school

Zachary woke up late today and had a hard time getting ready.

Me: Zachary we have to get ready for school or you'll be late

Zach: (through sobs like you've never seen) I do not want to go to school. Mommy please do not make me go to school I will miss you too much.

Me. You have to go to school it's the law

Zach: will you pick me up? Can I have a roller coaster if I go to school for 8 days without crying?

Me. You can have the Lego Batman game (we always start the year on a rewards system).

Zach . Okay

Zach. When I go to sleep and get bigger can I go to your school

Me. Yes, but you have to be big like daddy

Zach. If I am big like daddy I will be too old to go to school. Mom?

Me. Yes Zachary

Zach. (crying again) I do not want to go to school. Please don't make me go.

So we pull into the parking lot and he says, "I do not want you walking me up, just leave me here and I will find my way... Of course I walked him to class. He's only five :)

Five already

Zachary started kindergarten on Wednesday :( I can not believe how quickly he is growing up. I hope he likes kindergarten more than he liked Pre-K.

All grown up

I can not believe that Katelyn is in 10th grade now. It seems like just yesterday we were taking her to Kindergarten. She will be driving in less than 11 months and she's off to Emory in less than 3 years. It's so strange that she is reaching so many "grown-up" mile stones.

My dog might be dying

He has been limping around for a while now, but we think he's going blind as well. We've had him for over six years, and he's gone through a lot with us, so I will be really sad when he dies.

Faith

Sometimes it's all you have. I am relying on my faith to get my family through the next year and a half. I know God will help us get the justice deserved and to ensure that Ted comes back to us Alive, Well, and Fully Functional.
